Important milestones of the last 5 years
Among the most important developments of the MediaTech Hub are lighthouse projects such as the MediaTech Hub Space at the UFA or the MediaTech Hub Accelerator, initiated by the University of Potsdam, the Hasso Plattner Institute and the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF with around 40 start-ups in its portfolio, which have acquired more than 20 million euros in investment to date. The MediaTech Hub Conference is Germany’s leading B2B event for media technologies and inspires hundreds of international participants every year with forward-looking tech trends and best practices – this year’s edition on 27th and 28th of September promises many highlights with a focus on film, TV & streaming. “In the future, innovative potentials will continue to be developed, which above all pay into the common hub idea as well as promote and strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation,” says Andrea Wickleder, Managing Director of the MediaTech Hub Potsdam. The city offers young companies an international scientific community as well as excellent research institutions and universities.
Network meeting of the Digital Hub Initiative in Potsdam
The day after, the Digital Hubs from Germany met for the second network meeting this year at UFA in Babelsberg. Updates from all the hubs were followed by an exchange on the topic of AI and an exciting talk on “AI and intellectual property” by Prof. Dr Christian Czychowski from the law firm Nordemann. After a joint lunch, the group was able to take a look behind the scenes on a guided tour of Studio Babelsberg. First we went to the Volucap and then to the Art Department and the Marlene Dietrich Hall, among others. The day ended with a workshop on what the Digital Hubs have to offer start-ups.
